UFG appoints Steven Hernandez chief human resources officer

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Thursday, May 9, 2024

UFG Insurance is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven Hernandez as its senior vice president and chief human resources officer, effective May 15, 2024. In his new role, Hernandez will lead the company’s human resources function and be responsible for developing and implementing its human capital strategy. He will report to UFG President and CEO Kevin Leidwinger.

Man smiling.Hernandez is an accomplished, people-centered leader with over 30 years of industry experience. “As a global executive with a unique lens into the insurance industry’s changing talent landscape, Steve has extensive experience in performance management, learning and development, organizational design, change management and diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I),” said Leidwinger. “I look forward to Steve’s many contributions as we continue to cultivate an inclusive and empowering culture that supports our people’s success.” 

Hernandez added, “It is an honor to serve as chief human resources officer for UFG, a company with dedicated people, strong corporate values and a deeply admired workplace culture. Over the course of my 34-year career, I have had the privilege of overseeing large and diverse teams, always striving to lead by inspiring, valuing and empowering people to do their best work.
