24 nonprofits receive UFG Foundation grants in recent award cycle
The UFG Foundation — a private foundation of UFG Insurance — is proud to award mission-driven grants to 24 nonprofits through its most recent funding cycle.
A total of $308,500 will be distributed to organizations serving the Eastern Iowa corridor and state of Iowa, as well as communities near Houston, Texas, where the Cedar Rapids-based P&C insurance carrier has an office location.
“UFG is a 79-year-old company with deep community roots, and the UFG Foundation never tires of nurturing that community-focused commitment with each grant we’re able to award,” explained UFG Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Michael Sheeley, also a foundation representative. “The breadth of meaningful work underway at our funded nonprofits is inspirational. In addition to continuing long-tenured support, we’re pleased to extend funds to eight first-time UFG grant awardees this cycle.”
This cycle’s grant recipients include:

- Breakthrough T1D Nebraska and Iowa Chapter: Walk and gala
- Camp Kesem National: Camp Kesem programming at the University of Iowa

- Cedar Valley Humane Society: Expanding our Pawprint campaign
- Community Foundation of Johnson County, Iowa: Building North Liberty’s Next Stage campaign
- Discovery Living: Power generator
- Freedom Foundation: Veterans Emergency Assistance Fund
- Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois: Leadership programming
- GROW at Kazimour Farm & Orchard Inc.: Operating support
- Indian Creek Nature Center: Operating support
- Iowa College Foundation: Annual campaign to support independent higher education in Iowa
- Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa: Youth education programming
- Kids First Law Center: Restorative justice programming
- Kirkwood Community College Foundation: Scholarship programming
- Leaders Believers Achievers (LBA) Foundation: Operating support
- Linn County Trails Association: Make Trails Happen campaign
- Mount Mercy University: Scholarship programming
- Orchestra Iowa Inc.: Operating support
- St. Luke’s Foundation: Abbe Mental Health Center – New Beginnings Start Here campaign
- The Arc of East Central Iowa: Operating support
- The Rose: Breast care services near Houston, Texas
- Young Parents Network (YPN): Operating support
Qualifying nonprofits who demonstrate a connection to UFG’s vision, mission and values may apply for one of three types of grants, including programmatic funding, operating support or capital campaign (under certain circumstances).
