Senior Accountant

UFG is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team.


A key member of the External Financial Reporting Team, responsible for assisting with the monthly, quarterly and annual preparation and analysis of financial statements, regulatory forms, internal management financial reports, annual audits and SEC reporting requirements. Works with both internal and external sources to ensure the proper reporting of financial data. Looks for potential areas of improvement and adheres to established internal controls





  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual statutory and/or GAAP financial statements and assist with the preparation of SEC filings and other external financial reporting requirements
  • Various federal, state, local and internal reporting
  • Assist with annual audits for employee benefit plans
  • Prepare state pages for each company’s Annual Statement
  • Assist in coordinating quarterly review process and annual audit process with external auditors
  • Assist with the preparation of financial presentations for various audiences
  • Assist with research on technical accounting topics, writing accounting position papers and implementation of new accounting standards
  • Focus on continuous improvement initiatives that increase the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of all external reporting deliverables
  • Other job related duties as assigned




  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent education/experience. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial reporting experience. 
  • CPA preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of insurance accounting preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and complete work within established deadlines, willingness to take on new projects, ability to work effectively individually and within a team, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong desire and willingness to stay current on industry accounting trends and updates
  • Excellent computer skills, with strong working knowledge of Excel and Word.
